For ages compost with peat has been used by gardeners who wanted to get the best results in their gardens. But according to an article by Sean Poulter research has now shown that it’s better to use compost without peat.
According to the article experts compared a lot of plants that were composted with different kinds of compost – some of them with peat, and others without any peat.
Apparently the researchers found that the plants that were composted with peat-free compost did better than the plants composted with peat.
After the experiment one of the researchers said, ‘The results of our trials show that it is possible to find compost that is not only great for your plants, but good news for the environment too.’
Some gardeners are sceptical to the results of the experiments and have raised several objections to the conclusions of the research team. These gardeners still prefer to use compost with peat.
